Puff..!

This entry is submitted by me for Thursday Poets Rally Week 49!

Through the thick cover,
diffusing in the air,
bitter sensation it triggered.
Claustrophobic it seemed at first.
Now relieves to the core,
chilling the bones to numb.
Burnt grey it flew inside the eyes,
the past deeds came so live.
Bloody red the white spaces turned.
Pupils dilated eyelids blinked close.
Life got a standstill in the puff,
just smoke reeled in the air above.

Inimical. I was torn between thinking it just a cigarette puff and perhaps something more sinister.

Very, very dark... Tried to see where the image came from but the link wouldn't work... Like it, though it's a bit on the dark side for me (wish I could write dark like that). Great read though!

On first read, it's is picture of what it's like standing in a room full of smokers. Very interesting poem, the initial impression transforms into that of being choked by old lingering bad memories or perhaps guilt.

Very vivid poetry this. Love the power of the description. Though I don't smoke there are times I've understood the same feeling I think.

I have to say I especially enjoyed this as I also chose a moment involving cigarettes as my entry for this week. Very nicely capture and I love the image with it.

its a powerful description cos one puff cud easily mean that a fire was lit and puff up in smoke it goes....

I does relief the fear of the claustrophobic emotions...but how long will it??
